Background 

Lion Acres began business investing in real estates.  From its established foundation in South East Asia, Lion Acres grew its business engaging in management consulting and trading activities.  Lion Acres has developed to become one of Asia's distinguished management consulting companies.

Specialization

Lion Acres is a vehicle established with proven track records in Business Advisory.  Although different affiliates are set up to conduct services in different business segments, they are under the unified Lion Acres umbrella.

Fund Management:

Direct fund management decisions among various securities (shares, notes, bonds, unit trusts, endowment) and assets (real estate) to meet specified investment goals for the benefit of private investors.  Consider the degree of diversification that makes sense for individual needs and risk profile. Construct fund allocation among individual securities with different market dynamics to optimize portfolio return.

(i)      Compliance and Corporate Governance
Sarbanes-Oxley compliance; statutory compliance; internal control; FCPA non-violation. Methodologies focus on risk identification and establish control points to safeguard company assets.


(ii)     Corporate Re-structuring

Divesture of non-core business and combination viability review.  Consolidate factories’ capacity to improve asset utilization.

Asset utilization (manufacturing) focusing on asset usage and available capacity, variations between optimum capacity and actual production, down time resulting in less than optimum usage of assets, benchmarking with other similar facilities in the region, continuous learning environment to improve asset utilization and key performance measurement and mechanism to ensure that a consistently high asset utilization ratio is maintained.

Infrastructure / facilities management, focusing on post-evaluation of the project management (cost and investment review) and review of critical milestones.  Organization structure focusing on human resources - staffing of critical and technical positions and payroll controls.


(iii)     Financial Due Diligence

Merger & acquisition viability review; agreed-upon procedures; initial public offerings; reverse takeover; fraud investigation.


(iv)     Process Re-engineering

Benchmark financial & operational process standardization against best practices, such as logistics and inventory management focusing on the safety stocks / reorder levels (optimal stock levels) / controls over physical inventory / delivery performance.

Redesign procedures for discounts and commissions structure, credit management focusing on debt recoverability, monitoring provision for stock obsolescence and bad debts, commercial activities with emphasis on pricing management, credit notes analysis and volume rebates.


(v)      Strategy Planning
Identify, implement optimal strategies for profitability, liquidity and growth.  Key initiatives includes: shared service, improve working capital, cash pooling/management, corporate management reporting system rollout.  Improve strategic review process including: budgeting, exception reporting, variance accountability and reliability, key performance indicator, quality of management information.

Kuok’s academic qualifications include a postgraduate degree in Masters of Business Administration (Major in Accounting and Finance) obtained from Monash University, Australia.  He is a certified public accountant and is a Member of CPA Australia, Institute of CPAs of Singapore and Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Kuok has over 15 years of both professional and industrial experience in the Asia Pacific Region.  Kuok has extensive experience serving multinational, public listed and middle market privately held companies in a wide range of industries including automotive, semiconductor, hotel and leisure, manufacturing, property development, construction, information technology, consumer and industrial products and communication industries.   

Kuok started his career as an audit professional with KPMG Singapore in 1994 and relocated to China to join KPMG and PWC Beijing in 2004 and 2007, respectively.  During his career, he also held position as ASEAN Region Internal Auditor with Philips Electronics, as Financial Controller with Wella, and as Asia Regional Controller with Watts Water Technologies Inc.  Some of Kuok’s clientele to-date include: Effem Foods Inc, NCR Corporation, Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited, China National Materials Company (Sinoma), CA, CWT Distribution Limited, San Miguel Brewery, Siemens, Watts Water Technologies Inc, City Development Limited, Capital Land Limited, Four Seasons Singapore Hotel, Le Meridien Singapour, The Crown Plaza Hotel, Mitsubishi Electronics Manufacturing, and Philips Electronics.

Kuok specializes in compliance and corporate governance including process re-engineering, policies and procedures design, internal controls; as well as corporate re-structuring, divestures and financial due diligence.  He is proficient in IFRS, PRC GAAP, Singapore GAAP and US GAAP reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and is well-versed in the financial regulations and corporate laws.

At present he serves as the President of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (“MAYCHAM”), Shanghai Chapter.  MAYCHAM’s objective is to bridge businesses in Malaysia and China, and to represent the Malaysian Business community in China as well as to provide assistance to Malaysian investors in China.

MAYCHAM Shanghai was established in 2005, and it continues to remain vibrant to this day with continuing support from individuals and corporate community.  We strive to reach out to the Chinese business community, acting as a bridge to the Malaysian companies and members.

The role of MAYCHAM Shanghai is to provide a platform for i) Malaysians in shanghai; and ii) local Chinese businesses with interests in Malaysia.  The platform provides:
     i)      Networking opportunities for members to exchange knowledge and expertise through seminars, and gatherings
     ii)     More importantly - keep up the spirit of Malaysian while away from home
